Springtime in Goosetown

Benefit for the Emma Goldman Clinic

Friends of the Emma Goldman Clinic are invited to attend its Spring Benefit on Friday, May 30th at the home and garden of Joy and David on Bloomington Street, in historic Goosetown (contact us to RSVP and for address).  This fundraising event is from 5-7pm.  7 items will be raffled off at this event.

“We’re excited that Joy and David have welcomed us into their home and garden for this event,” said Karen Kubby, Executive Director of the clinic.   The Emma Goldman Clinic is a non-profit feminist reproductive health care facility that has been serving the region for 35 years.  Hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be complimentary. “We are very happy to have the community come together for this event. We have had donations from so many local businesses, artists, and community members. It’s great to know the clinic has this much support.”

This event will host a “feminist raffle” featuring 7 different raffle prizes.  Prizes are outlined in detail at www.emmagoldman.com.  Tickets can be distributed amongst all the prizes or concentrated on one item.  The Prizes include: Get Crafty With It, a basket of yarn, knitting books, tools, and gift certificates provided by The Knitting Shoppe, Home EC, and Crazy Girl Yarn Shop; The Spaaaaah!, a progressive spa treatment including a haircut at Twin Image Salon Spa, a signature pedicure from Zenders, and three massages from the Emma Goldman Clinic; Release Your Inner Child, an assortment of toys and games for all ages from the Fun Zone and Dairy Queen on Market gift certificates; Drama Queen, tickets for two for Riverside Theatre’s Shakespeare Festival and Hancher Auditorium, and a gift certificate from Taste on Melrose; Trans-send, a way to show your style while reducing your carbon footprint with a commuter bike from World of Bikes, a basket from Design Ranch, and a helmet from the Bike Library; Sex in the City Basket, including a variety of personal care products; The Fashionista Basket that includes a handbag and jewelry from Hoopla, a bracelet from Silver Spider, a scarf from Om and a handmade piece of beadwork by Karen Kubby.

Winners need not be present to win and tickets are for sale in advance.  There is a suggested donation of $25 for the Spring Benefit, however the presence of supporters and a donation of any amount is encouraged. For more information and to purchase tickets in advance, contact Toni at (319) 337-2112.
